Jack Rabbit Campground is the perfect spot in Hayesville, NC, if you are wanting to camp, swim, fish, bike, or run.   Jack Rabbit is located on the east side of
Lake Chatuge in Hayesville, NC., off of State Route 175.

The campground area is open from May 1 to September 29 each year.  This includes the swimming area.  Most of the camp sites are lakeside which allow for boat docking and swimming right at your site.  Prices range from $15-$30 depending on whether you select a site with electricity. Tucked away off the main road, Jack Rabbit is a great place to swim because it is not as crowded as the beach area in Haiwassee, GA.  Jack Rabbit is thought by many to be a cleaner, more scenic spot on the lake. One can reserve a campsite easily online.  Just Google Jack Rabbit Campground, and you will be taken to an online reservation that will give you all the information you need, including a map of the campground.

For those who are more athletic, Jack Rabbit has 15 miles of biking/running trails.  The Grand Opening of these trails was  April 30, 2011.  The event included a 5K race along with a bike race.  The upgrading and expansion of the trails was a community effort, and the people of Hayesville take great pride in the trails’ quality.

The trails provide a great workout.  The inner loop is measured at 3.1 miles, so if you are wanting to run a 5K, it is perfectly laid out.  You can go to http://sabacycling.com/jackrabbit.shtml to get more information on the trails, including a color-coded map of each section of the trails.  Hayesville and  Hiawassee have many running and cycling clubs. This site is sponsored by the Southern Appalacian Bicycle Association.  You can contact them if you are interested in entering a race.  Cycling and running races are held often in Hayesville and Hiawassee.
